There’s a very popular saying that when luck decides to hand you a fortune, it keeps on coming and coming and for this lucky guy luck handed him 40 jackpots. The guy bought 40 lottery tickets and won 40 jackpots. It seems like there is no measure of being lucky or fortunate. Some people had have bought lottery tickets for each draw for their entire life and haven’t won for a single time, and then there is this guy who seems to have stolen the luck of a whole city.
A Canadian man beat the odds of winning (roughly 1-in-10,600) and scooped $400,000 from a Washington Lottery game that typically pays winners $10,000.
Thomas Grimme, White Rock, British Columbia, selected 4-winning numbers for the Match 4 game in December 2016. However, he didn’t pick these numbers on a single $2 ticket rather he purchased 40 tickets at the Cost Cutter Grocery in Blaine, with same 4-numbers on all of them.
When the result was drawn, his every ticket matching the same 4-numbers was of worth $10,000. As a result, it became the biggest overall payout for a Match 4 game in the state’s history.
Match 4 is one of the Washington Lottery’s most popular games, typically selling between 10,000 and 20,000 tickets a day. On December 28, the Washington Lottery had 42 winning tickets for Match 4. 40 of them were bought by Grimme and two by other players who each had a single winner. As per a report by investigator Derek Poppe, Grimme picked the numbers – 4, 8, 17 and 24 – based on his children’s birthdays. He had been playing with the same numbers for several months.
This tremendously lucky Canadian guy asked agencies not to reveal his photo and any other personal details. He also didn’t answer about what he will be doing with his newfound windfall when asked in standard Lottery “Winner’s Survey.”
He chose to remain anonymous!
P.S. – Investigations suggest it was a pure “Luck based win” and there was “nothing fishy” about it.
