‘Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise’, seems this adage is not perfectly fitting to teenagers. If your teenager still feels exhausted and tired even after doing everything right then, there’s something you need to know.
If your kid goes to school at the crack of dawn then his tiredness and anxiousness are indicating towards something more than just adolescent moodiness. A new study conducted at the University Of Rochester Medical Center suggests that-
“Middle and high school students who start school before 8:30 a.m. might be at a higher risk of depression and anxiety — even among those who do everything else ‘right.’”
The researchers monitored different aspects of two groups of student- one who starts their school before 8:30 a.m. and one who goes to school after 8:30 a.m. Various aspects such as sleep quality, duration, sleep hygiene habits, anxiety symptoms, depression symptoms were studied over seven days.
The students who followed good routine showed improved outcomes while those who started school early complaint about tiredness and reported more mental health challenges.
