Roasted fish for lunch on New Year’s Day are lucky in three ways. Firstly, their scales resemble coins or money so good fortune is promised. Secondly, they travel in schools, which represent prosperity, and they swim forward, symbolising progress.
This one is very tricky. In Japan, it is believed that soba noodles reflect a long life as these noodles is long in size. To have a long life, you need to slurp the soba noodles without breaking them, but if you eat them chewing or crushing them, then it’s no good. So get your slurping technique down.
Go for greens
