Quitting a job is a tough task. You have to rely on your savings or look for an option through which you can meet your daily needs. At times, getting fired or quitting the job is a nightmare. But, not when you have hit the million dollar lottery jackpot.
Here are the four crazy stories of lottery winners who instantly quit their jobs right after scooping millions.
Ten workers didn’t show up the next day
In 2013, a group of ten workers formed a lottery syndicate and scooped £28m EuroMillions jackpot together. All the ten workers worked at a recruitment firm in Kirkby, Merseyside. After winning the lottery, none of the workers showed up, except for Louise Whitby. She didn’t make to work that day because of morning sickness. The group of coworkers took her share without looking back.
“I will not be coming back”
In August 2017, Mavis Wanczyk won the $758 million Powerball jackpot. She had been working as a health centre worker in the US for 32 years. After scooping the largest single lottery jackpot ever in the United States history, Mavis called her company only to say that “I will not be coming back.” As per reports, she said she would just sit back and relax.
“I don’t think I’m going to come in today, tomorrow, or ever.”
“I am really sorry, boss. I hit the jackpot,” Steve said. Steve Tran was a delivery driver who hit a $324 million lottery jackpot. When he realized he had won the jackpot, he called his boss only to say that “I don’t think I’m going to come in today, tomorrow, or ever.”
I’m never coming back here!”
An Australian construction worker was working on a site when his phone rang. On picking up the call, he came to know about his $20,000,000 Oz Lottery win. “This better not be a windup,” he said. He had already put up his tool and started hanging up his belt before he even hung up the phone. I’m never coming back here!” he said and disconnected the phone.
